Skeleton Key Try it

For apps that won't let you export

It's your data. Take it back.

Get your health data out of any app, even the ones with no export button. Private, on your own machine.

skeleton key noun One key that opens many locks. Ours opens the apps that won't hand over your data.

Lockpick

Every file has a key. It has five cuts.

An exported recording is a block of bytes with no description. To read it you need five facts about how it was written. Lockpick works all five out on its own.

  1. 1HeaderWhere the metadata stops and the samples start.
  2. 2Sample type16-bit integers, 24-bit, 32-bit floats.
  3. 3Byte orderLittle-endian or big-endian.
  4. 4ChannelsHow many signals are interleaved, sample by sample.
  5. 5Sample rateSamples per second, so time comes out right.

How it knows it's right

A wrong reading is noise. A right one looks like a body.

Heartbeats

A sharp, regular beat around once a second, the way a real ECG lead looks.

Brainwaves

Many channels moving together with rhythms in the ranges brains produce, like alpha near 10 Hz.

Breathing

A slow rise and fall every few seconds, at the pace people actually breathe.

Your account. Your data. Nobody else's.

Skeleton Key only works with your own login, on your own data, and runs on your own computer. Reverse-engineering an app may break its terms of service, so check them before you use it.
